This sweet blend for pork and poultry is very versatile. It starts off sweet and then has a subtle kick at the end, very similar to our wildly popular Holy Voodoo. It tastes fantastic with ribs, pulled pork, chicken, turkey, seafood, smoked cream cheese, and popcorn.
The rub is sweet, but not overly so. In fact, it’s less sweet than our other six rubs. Texas Sugar is just a catchy name we’ve always wanted to use!
The history of this rub dates back to the days when Matt competed in BBQ competitions. Many people “made their mark” at barbecue competitions by using this rub on ribs, pork, and chicken at KCBS and IBCA events.
Tip: Use it for roasting or “low and slow” smoking. Try not to use it on meat grilled at high temperatures.
Ingredients: sugar, honey powder (refined syrup, honey), salt, spices, paprika, dried garlic, dried onion.
